This Pinot Gris entices you with fresh pear, peach and nuances of almond meal. Rich fruit with a touch of creaminess and subtle spice leads into a lively, off-dry finish.

Technical:

Summer started early in Marlborough, with warm weather leading to good flavour development, indicating the potential for great wine. Good rainfall from October onwards was a welcome break from several dry seasons. The temperature cooled as summer progressed and inclement weather over flowering reduced yield predictions for many blocks, helping balance crops. Expecting a later harvest than typical, our viticulturists chose to drop more crop over the growing period, to ensure better flavours and ripening potential in the fruit. The harvest period presented challenges with intermittent rain but with balanced, well managed vines all fruit was harvested in great condition Each parcel was harvested at optimum ripeness, pressing commenced immediately on arrival to the winery. Fermented in stainless steel tanks using selected yeast strains at temperatures 12-15C. The wine was held on lees for a further two months before blending in early June and bottling in early July

The fruit was chosen from three regions; Marlborough, Waipara and Hawke’s Bay to maximise intensity and flavour. This Pinot Gris has lovely aromatics. It entices with fresh nectarine, peach and red apple it has a touch of creaminess and subtle spice leading to a lively, off-dry finish. As the weather cools, this Pinot Gris would be perfect with a spinach and feta tart.

Highly Rated - Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast

This wine comes straight out of the gate with heady notes of ripe peach, pear, grapefruit and honeysuckle, with undertones of ground white pepper and dried herbs. Things go a little flat on the palate. It's an off-dry style, and the sugar sticks out in the form of both sweetness and a viscous texture. It's just barely held up by the acidity, although it could use more. The fruit feels a touch sour on the finish.

Highly Rated - Toni Paterson, The Real Review

Bright, fresh pear aromas and flavours. A fresh, fruity mid-palate with a little spice. A well-balanced, easy-drinking style

Highly Rated - Michael Coopers Buyers Guide

From vineyards in Marlborough (mostly), Waipara and Hawke’s Bay, the 2017 vintage (3.5*) is an attractively scented, medium-bodied wine, with strong, vibrant pear and lychee flavours, a sliver of sweetness (5.3 grams/litre of residual sugar) and balanced acidity. Great value.
