Tasting Notes:

The Yarra Yering Carrodus Pinot Noir 2019 is a refined and expressive example of the estate's commitment to producing exceptional wines from the cool climate of the Yarra Valley. Hand-harvested and gently destemmed to preserve whole berries, the fruit is carefully fermented in small 600kg fermenters to retain its delicate characteristics. A small proportion of stalks is included to enhance the lift and structure of the wine. Hand plunging twice daily ensures gentle extraction of the fruit's flavor, followed by gentle pressing to preserve its purity. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new, for 10 months.

The 2019 vintage presents an enchanting nose with beautiful primary cherry fruit and delicate violet aromas, combined with subtle oak nuances of vanilla and spice. On the palate, the wine bursts with vibrant cherry and berry fruits, creating an elegant and silky mouthfeel. The structure is supported by notes of graphite and oak spice, which add depth and complexity to the finish. This wine showcases the finesse and precision that Yarra Yering is known for, with an expressive and balanced profile that will evolve beautifully over time.

The Yarra Yering Carrodus Pinot Noir 2019 has received critical acclaim, with a 98-point rating from Huon Hooke of The Real Review and 97 points from Jane Faulkner of Halliday Wine Companion. The previous vintage was also highly regarded, receiving 93 points from Mike Bennie of The Wine Front. Yarra Yering continues to maintain its status as a 5 Red Star Winery according to James Halliday, a testament to the winery's ongoing commitment to quality.

Pair this elegant Pinot Noir with dishes like roasted duck, grilled salmon, or a mushroom risotto. Its complexity and silky texture also make it a great match for soft cheeses like Brie or goat cheese.

Accolades & Awards:

98 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
Medium to deep purple/red colour, very youthful, with a spicy, toasty, oak-driven aroma at first sniff; black cherry coming up with time in the glass. The palate is medium to full-bodied and oak initially seems uppermost in the flavour spectrum. Dark cherry again. The wine is fleshy and supple-textured, with gentle, soft tannins and good length. The aromatics are outstanding. Enormous palate length. This is a stunning pinot that will profit from a little cellaring.

97 Point Rated - Jane Faulkner Halliday Wine Companion
Fruit from original 1969 plantings. Destemmed, whole berries into 600kg fermenters with some stalks. Matured in French oak, 40% new, for 10 months. This is all about refinement, and in a way, it has a deceptive gentleness, as the flavours are subtle, the oak has meshed into the body of the wine and the silky tannins weave across the palate. Arguably the finest Carrodus pinot to date.
