Rich and bright red in colour with a dark purple rim, the nose shows rich and concentrated red and blue fruits, dark chocolate and hints of spice. The palate is plush with excellent structure. Fine, chalky tannins offer length and power while finishing soft, with a full of flavour. This wine is matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 15 months. This wine can be enjoyed now, but will also improve with careful cellaring.
Just as different steak cuts have different flavour, texture and appeal - so do different Shiraz wines.
The Pepperjack Graded Collection showcases two different styles of Shiraz, created by our winemaker to perfectly match two of his favourite cuts of steak: Scotch Fillet and Porterhouse.
The Pepperjack Graded Langhorne Creek Shiraz was made to partner with Porterhouse steak, inspired by Langhorne Creek's ability as a region to produce wines with fantastic minerality, fine chalky tannins and length of flavour. These qualities also lengthen the flavour of the Porterhouse through the palate.

Langhorne Creek shiraz. Focussing on getting people to match perfectly with steak. The world of wine is changing, and I don’t mind these associations at all. Winemaker Richard Mattner has done some serious research into cuts of meat and wine matching to get to this point.
Lithe, medium weight style. Dark fruited but bright, a sheath of sinewy tannin shaping the wine and lending gentle pucker, there’s mint and salt bush character seasoning the plummy, darker fruit character. It’s even, succulent, really well balanced and very long. Feels like a very fancy wine. Done really well.

"When you speak of Langhorne Creek the first thing you think of is drinkability. The deliciously appealing, soft palates continue to make some of the best wines where ‘value’ and ‘ready to drink’ feature as prominent requirements. This is designed, according to the label, to match with Porterhouse steak. I’d actually drink it with anything. It’s beautiful with a generous smooth palate loaded with medium bodied dark fruits."

Separate parcels, including 9% cabernet sauvignon, fermented and aged in a mix of French, American and Hungarian oak. Reveals dusty spice, classical plum and blackberry, all cast in a chewy, fuller bodied, rich and generous style.

Intense and deep ruby-red colour. Dark chocolate and raspberry liquorice aromatics. Ripe to almost sweet red fruits on entry, wood shavings and varnish notes balance the fruit to a degree. The tannins dry the finish, but a warmth remains.

Deep, bright, youthful purple/red colour. The aromas show blackberry and black plum with a touch of ironstone, while the palate is full-bodied and firm, with lashings of ripe tannins and very bold flavour. A big, solid, brash shiraz that has plenty of appeal. If it’s designed to go with rare porterhouse steak, I'd give it the thumbs-up.
