Rich expressive perfume of preserved pears, cloves and brioche, followed by fresh white peaches, green pears and nougat. Layers of complexity from time in new oak and on lees give freshness and vitality to the this style.

Technical:

This marks the second vintage of our Palladian Chardonnay and again we are excited to release the new vintage during the Gourmet Escape. We have sourced our fruit from low yielding GinGin Chardonnay from particular east-west row orientation, these rows were selected as having the distinctive quality for this style of wine. The handpicked fruit was cooled overnight then whole bunch pressed directly to barrel. The resulting juice was left to ferment naturally with the indigenous yeasts found in the vineyard. This year ripening season was a little under the average temperatures with no noticeable heat spikes, making for grapes with lovely fragrance, higher acidities and higher sugar levels than normal.

Accolades & Awards:

97 Point Rated - The Real Review
"Pale lemon to straw colour but has brightness and intensity to the rim. The nose leaps with fresh lemon zest, just-warmed pine nuts and a touch of seaspray. The palate has a lift and vibrancy that belies the true power of the fruit this wine possesses. Lemon notes intermingle with a hint of struck flint and flame-caressed sourdough crust. But the beauty of this wine is its length and persistence. It unfurls deep and long into the palate and lingers for an eternity."

96 Point Rated - Erin Larkin James Halliday Wine Companion
"White peach and saline acid are the defining characters here. On the palate, the flavours extend and unfurl into all the far reaches of the mouth and mind; fine chalky phenolics serve to grip and convince a second and third sip. A very special wine."

95 Point Rated - The Wine Front
"November release for this one. Looks like 2019 is a very good vintage for MR Chardonnay, though it seems very much a ‘line and length’ vintage over ‘Flavour Town’.Lime, green apple, a little struck match, cinnamon and almond brioche. It’s lean, very crunchy and tight, all the green apple and citrus zing, flinty river pebble dryness, and finishes very very long with razor sharp lemony focus. It’s somewhat ascetic in nature as at now, but does feel like a wine of potential."

95 Point Rated - James Suckling
"This top-tier chardonnay has very attractive restraint, married with underlying complexity. Lemon and wet-stone aromas, as well as white-peach and almond notes, leading to a palate that has a very elegant yet powerful core of lemons, grapefruit and white peaches. Toasted-hazelnut finish. It’s all here."
