Pale straw with green-gold tints. Fragrant citrus blossom and lime zest with hints of lemongrass and bath salts. Fine, elegant restraint and drive of natural acidity through the length of the palate. Flavours of citrus curd, fresh lemon and lime zest, perfectly in balance with the refreshing slatey texture, linger on the finish.

Technical:

Heggies Vineyard is the sort of place where a person would sit on their horse in silence at sunset and marvel at the ways of nature. Through the combination of innovative viticultural practices and unique terroir, this challenging yet picturesque estate vineyard produces distinctive, balanced wines - beautifully structured and long in flavour.

We ensure each vintage is of consistently high quality. Grapes are picked in the cool of the night, with gentle handling of the free-run juice to retain maximum fruit aromatics. The juice is fermented at cool temperatures using aromatic yeasts to maintain fruit purity and freshness in the final wine.

Accolades & Awards:

96 Point Rated Nick Stock

Such attractive perfume and fragrance with lemon and white peach, plenty of spice and crushed stones, too. The palate has a very vividly fleshy feel with fresh, long and elegant drive. A great vintage. Drink or hold.

94 Point Rated Dave Brookes Halliday Wine Companion

I knew there were trout in there. I never quite built up enough courage to ask Robert Hill-Smith if I could fish the huge dam at the Heggies vineyard. I have regrets. But not when it comes to polishing off the bottle of this cracking lime-pure 2021 riesling, with it's gorgeous blossomy perfume, quartz-like minerality and swift, sherbety cadence across the tongue. It's a great Heggies release.

94 Point Rated Angus HughsonA classic Heggies Riesling with the seamless quality which is only seen in the best vintages. The colour is very pale – never a bad sign – before launching into focused and concentrated aromas of lime zest, pith, citrus juice and floral tones, superbly walking a line that delivers both power and finesse. It’s then dry and zesty, with a still tight core of fruit and exceptional balance between genuinely ripe flavours and acidity before delivering a very long and fine finish with touches of wet stones and rosewater. Immaculate balance is the key which gives this wine not only delicious youthful drinkability right now but also impressive aging potential.

91 Point Rated Huon Hooke The Real Review

Pours with a lot of dissolved gas. The aromas are restrained and lemon-juicy, clean and fresh, with overtones of freshly-cut garden herbs and a hint of freshly-rolled pastry. The flavour is bright, lean and intense with a trace of bitterness on the finish. Tight and deserving of some cellar age.

90 Point Rated Campbell Mattinson The Wine Front

Elegant riesling with grapey, limey, floral-accented fruit flavour running throughout. This is young Eden Valley riesling to a tee, the acidity sitting modestly high, the sorbet and talc-like notes threatening to take over, a tonic-like aspect lending it a bit of edge.
