Tasting Notes:

Deep dark red colour, the bouquet of dark fruit and dried herbs and earth on the nose with hints of mocha and chocolate. The palate is full of soft dark fruit flavours when allowed to breathe, there is a natural earth character to the wine reminiscent of a Southern Rhone style blend. Blackberry, and blackcurrant in highly concentrated amounts, dark plum, liquorice all provide an opulent yet not overpowering feel. Spicy vanillin cedar, subtle earthy tobacco character and a touch of pepper.

Sourced from a single vineyard in the Clarendon sub region of McLaren Vale affectionately known as the "Trophy Block". Fermented in small open top stainless steel with some whole berries, these fermenters ensure we maintain strong fruit flavour from skins and whole berries. Hand plunged two to four times daily for two weeks then transferred into 1 and 2-year-old American and French oak barrels for the remainder of ferment then spent 24 months in the same barrels to allow full flavour development with minimal topping and Sulphur additions before being bottled without fining or filtration.
Accolades & Awards:

95 Point Rated - Australian Wine Showcase Magazine
"Pleasant fruit cake bouquet. Matched nicely by a lovely, rich palate loaded with sweet plum flavours and a soft tannin finish."

96 Point Rated & 5 Stars - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Gracefully rich and sumptuous, the wine shows dark fruit intensity, cured meat, cedary oak and dark chocolate characters on the nose. The superbly weighted palate displays plush texture combined with beautifully melded tannins, finishing impressively long and expansive. A delicious offering filled with richness and complexity. At its best: now to 2034. $125.00. www.normanswines.com. Feb 2024."
