Tasting Notes:
Their Roaring Meg Pinot Noir shows lovely perfumed blackberry and dark cherry fruits along with a hint of spice. On the palate the wine has a sweet berry character along with balanced, ripe textural tannins that rise gracefully out of the mid-palate to finish the wine.
Technical:
As we grow, opportunities present themselves from time to time to take on new properties via lease or long-term contract. Some of these vineyards are located south of the Kawarau River and are leased back to us by the founding partners, and so still qualify for our Bannockburn wines. However, those outside of Bannockburn are used to produce Roaring Meg wines. All of these satellite vineyards are located in the Cromwell basin and all are cared for on a day to day basis by our viticulture team. At almost 80 hectares, they make up close to half of the vineyard area available to Mt Difficulty Wines.
Accolades & Awards:

91 Points - Bob Campbell, New Zealand Master of Wine

"Delicately aromatic pinot noir with cherry, violet, floral, spice and anise flavours. Gently juicy wine with appealing sweet fruit and tangy acidity. A fresh and flavoursome wine that offers value at this price."

Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker Wine Advocate

"An entry-level cuvée, the 2018 Roaring Meg Pinot Noir features distinct herbal notes of wild thyme set against a backdrop of cherries and beetroot. It's medium-bodied, with silky tannins that fade rapidly on the finish but not before adding modest mocha nuances. Drink it young."
