Mount Langi Ghiran Cliff Edge Shiraz 2022 delivers a striking expression of cool-climate Grampians Shiraz, showcasing the purity and finesse for which the region is revered. Crafted using 100% whole berry ferments in both small open-top and large concrete fermenters, the wine spent two weeks on skins with a mix of plunging and pump-overs. Wild yeasts guided fermentation before pressing to tank for settling and then to French barriques (30% new) for 14 months’ maturation, enhancing complexity and structure.
In the glass, it shines a bright medium garnet, opening with vivid aromatics of red and black cherries, boysenberry, ripe raspberry, and a sprinkle of baking spice. The palate follows with layers of Morello cherry, blackberry and raspberry fruit enriched by subtle hints of cardamom, cloves, and white pepper. Silky tannins and a fine acid line carry the wine through to a long, poised finish that speaks to its cool-climate pedigree.
Awarded 93 Points by Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion), Nick Ryan (The Weekend Australian), and Aaron Brasher (The Real Review), and 92 Points by Ray Jordan (Wine Pilot), this Shiraz is a masterful balance of elegance and vibrancy. An excellent match with grilled lamb, slow-braised duck, or mushroom risotto, it will evolve beautifully in the cellar over the next 7–10 years.

"If you're drinking this, you're drinking well. It has the spiced cherry-and-mint profile so typical of the region down pat; it rips black pepper notes out of juicy, jubey fruit; it's etched with fine-grained tannin, and every step of the way, it feels balanced and sure.
93 Point Rated Nick Ryan The Weekend Australian Magazine
"A summary of the Langi style in an accessible form. Loaded with typical dark berry characters, a generous sprinkling of spice and built on the beautifully sleek frame that signifies all the shiraz wines that come from this special place. The wine to drink now while the other two rest in the cellar."
93 Point Rated Aaron Brasher The Real Review
"Youthful and dark red in the glass. Lifted and heady aromas of Asian spice, white pepper, blueberry, sarsaparilla, boysenberry and ferrous earth. There's lovely purity and drive, with a core of blue fruits, spice and firm, layered tannins. A lovely example of cooler climate shiraz. Pure and poised."
92 Point Rated Ray Jordan, Wine Pilot
"Despite some challenges in the second half of vintage, the wine has turned out mighty well. It’s medium-bodied and elegantly structured with a lively mix of blackberry and spicy dark plum. On the palate, you find rich dark plum characters and a light touch of chocolate. The slightly chalky tannins and well-managed oak provide the framework to support further cellaring."
