This wine is a brilliant deep dark red in colour, with a bright scarlet hue . The bouquet displays ripe, dark fruit characters of mulberry, blackberry and poached plum coupled with black olive and spice . Underlying chocolate box and cedar notes are derived from French oak maturation. The generous, fruit forward palate is rich with dark fruits, hints of mocha and cassis, and a firm, fine tannin structure with balanced acidity providing lovely texture and length.
Houghton has proudly been established over 175 years . It is Houghton's exacting attention to flavour profile and overall balance in their wines that sets Houghton apart . The Crofters range celebrates the vision of their founder C.W Ferguson, who made the Houghton ‘Croft’ homestead, the home of Houghton Wines . This range displays finely crafted, contemporary styles, typical of Western Australia’s premium wine regions.
90 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion
"A delight to behold. For some reason Crofters has always flown under the radar. Superfine cabernet here with sweet black fruit perfume, chocolate, vanilla and leafy lift. Soft, round and sweet on the palate. Quite seamless really, but just lacks concentration."
