Crafted from near-century-old vines planted in 1920, the Grant Burge Filsell Barossa Valley Shiraz 2022 is a powerful expression of one of the Barossa’s most iconic vineyards. These vines consistently yield fruit of extraordinary depth and intensity, some of which also contributes to the legendary Meshach Shiraz—making Filsell a treasured younger sibling with its own cult following.
This vintage delivers an intensely layered Shiraz with dark chocolate, mocha and plum aromas interwoven with caramel and sweet spice. On the palate, rich flavours of black fruits are supported by undertones of cacao nib, vanilla, earth and a suggestion of juniper. The tannins are firm yet refined, giving this wine a full-bodied structure and a luxurious texture that culminates in an exceptionally long, balanced finish.
With its 96 Point rating and 5 Stars from Huon Hooke of The Real Review, alongside 95 Point ratings from Ray Jordan, Sam Kim, and a Gold Medal at the Barossa Wine Show, it’s clear this wine stands among Australia’s finest.
Best enjoyed alongside hearty fare such as roast lamb with rosemary, slow-cooked beef cheeks, or aged cheddar, the Filsell Shiraz promises to elevate any meal or special occasion.

"This is pure Barossa Shiraz. Colour is dense and dark with faint crimson hues. Earthy plum aromas with a little licorice and brick dust. There is plenty of weight on the palate which is supported with well managed oak. Whilst a slightly grainy texture provides a nice mouthfeel."
96 Point Rated - Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Very deep, dark, concentrated colour, opaque; there’s concentrated black fruits, spice and licorice aromas with generous charred oak skilfully entwined. The wine is full-bodied and rich, deep and powerful, and promises to cellar superbly."

"Gorgeously fruited and enticing, the bouquet shows black/blueberry, rich floral, warm spice, cedar and subtle cocoa notes, leading to a sumptuous palate delivering terrific fruit richness with velvety texture, finishing impressively long and satisfying. At its best: 2026 to 2040."
