Tasting Notes:

Dense black in the glass, the nose is perfumed with delicate mocha chocolate with tobacco and cedar notes. The palate is huge with intense black fruits and mocha. Soft and velvety, yet with great tannic grip at the end. This defines Mataro.

Technical:

The wine was aged in old French oak for 16 months, to aid in softening the tannins and allows the savoury fruit flavours to emerge. The balance is awesome with a velvety texture and long lingering palate. We chose a selection of parcels across the northern end of the Barossa Valley from vines up to 60 years old. Cropped at about 1 tonne per acre and with small berries, which has given us great colour and intense flavours.
