Tasting Notes:

The 2011 Leydens Vale Merlot wine displays a deep garnet colour with aromas of plums, regional mint and subtle cedar oak. The elegant palate shows the fleshy fruit yet firm structure of great Merlot and the touches of mint and eucalypt that are indicative of its Pyrenees origins. 18 months maturing in old French oak barrels has softened the plentiful tannins making this wine very approachable in its youth but robust enough to cellar mid term.

Technical:

In the growing season of 2010/2011, good winter and spring rains were followed by a January flood but the resilience of the Merlot grape and a mild autumn, produced low yields and ripe flavors in a medium bodied style.
