Small Valley Wines is an off-shoot of the famous Kaesler winery in the Barossa Valley, an icon of the Australian wine scene. With vineyards planted in the mid 1800s, and owned by the same family for over 100 years, the Kaesler name is Barossa royalty! These days the winery is in another phase of its life, with some outside investment backing local winemakers to take the wines to the next level. Although the Barossan wines are obviously focussed on reds, a few years ago they purchased a small vineyard in Gumeracha, in the Adelaide Hills, and began making high quality Chardonnay under the Small Valley name.

The commitment to quality remains the same, with an increased focus on sustainability and vineyard management. The resultant wines are all the better for it, with more detail and life. Across the range, the power of the wines is something to behold, but they are balanced and in some cases even elegant! There's no resting on laurels either, with the top winemakers spending time overseas learning new things on a regular basis. As the tradition continues, one eye is on the future, and the wines show that wonderfully.
