Clare Hills Clare Valley Tempranillo Rose 2021 By Pikes

Pale copper pink – very attractive. Bright, fresh red fruits in abundance here with cranberry-like aromas being the main driver. The palate is light, fresh and zingy finishing soft and clean. Ideal to pair with your favourite Indian Chicken curry.

1838 Reserve Shiraz 2021

Purple to crimson red around the edge. A fruit bomb in its infancy the nose exhibits dark fruit flavours of freshly cut plum and some blueberry while mocha, chocolate, licorice and subtle oak ensure a highly aromatic and voluptuous nose. The palate is quite velvety in texture, with amazing fruit concentration in its youth featuring plum, chocolate, licorice with a touch of spice, perfectly interwoven oak and the perfect level of fine grainy tannin give line and length.

Normans White Label Chardonnay 2022

Light straw to pale green in colour. Fruit bursts from the glass with melon, pear and apple all obvious. Full flavoured reflecting characters on nose perfectly with melon, pear and apple all showcased here there is significant length and roundness of fruit flavour whilst the wine finishes with a soft yet crisp hit of acidity.

Normans Encounter Bay Shiraz 2022

This Shiraz displays blueberry, violet and roasted almond flavours. It is full and vibrant with a great balance between the fruit flavours and textured oak.

Niche Merlot 2022

Vibrant crimson with red hue. Aromas of freshly crush black fruit, chocolate and a mild touch of oak and spice. The palate is round and generous. A succulent mid palate shows lovely plum and some cherry flavours with chocolate creating a rounder finish whilst being perfectly interwoven between natural fruit acid and tannin. Some spice ensures a fresh and lively finish.

Technical:

Striking Red Central Otago Pinot Noir 2019

This vibrant fruit driven Central Otago Pinot Noir is crafted from grapes grown on the glacial terraces in the Upper Clutha Valley  of Central Otago, one of the southernmost winegrowing regions in the world. The vines are intensively managed by hand to achieve perfectly ripe fruit for winemaking. All grapes are carefully harvested by hand with only the best fruit going to the winery.

Clare Hills Clare Valley Tempranillo Rose 2021 By Pikes

The 2021 vintage was shaped by a typically cool winter and spring, but with below average rainfall. Timing of budburst and flowering were pretty much normal and harvest ultimately commenced for us on 14th February. The fruit for this wine was harvested in mid March. We experienced above average temperatures during January, but February and March were quite mild with no extended periods of heat. Virtually no rain fell in either month.

The fruit for this wine was both machine and hand harvested, then transported to the winery, crushed, chilled and pressed as soon as possible prior to the juice being clarified by cold settling. It was then inoculated with a neutral, pure yeast culture and fermentation carried out in stainless steel, temperature controlled tanks for on average 25-30 days. The wine was stabilized and then filtered prior to bottling in July 2021.

1838 Reserve Shiraz 2021

Fruit was sourced from several well-known growers in South Australia from what was another great vintage in terms of quality although yields were down across the region. The different sites allowed us to pick the fruit over a extended period allowing each vineyard to develop differing characters to compliment each other and also allowed us at the winery to treat the parcels individually in small ferments with longer than usual skin contact, which is always ideal. The result is an outstanding wine with obvious time and care taken with it throughout the vinification process. This wine was fermented warm and received pump overs on a daily basis during fermentation. Aged in primarily old 2-3 year old oak to add another level of complexity without over powering the fruit.

Normans White Label Chardonnay 2022

Machine harvested in the cool early hours of the morning from a vineyard in South Australia. We crushed, chilled and fermented the juice at controlled temperatures in the cool cellar. Extended lees stirring added a degree of complexity ensuring this wine over delivers in terms of quality and overall structure despite the use of no oak. The wine was bottled after careful filtration to retain the vibrant fruit and depth of varietal flavours.

Niche Merlot 2022

The fruit was sourced from premium vineyards located in South Australia. We picked in the cool of night when the fruit had reached its optimum ripeness then fermented on skins in static potters and rotary fermenters for a period of seven days to retain as much of the luscious natural fruit flavour as possible. Warm temperatures at the early stages of fermentation along with ta short period of post ferment maceration helped develop soft fleshy fruit and tannins while helping build structure. Following the pressing process, clarification and final blending the fruit was matured with select parcels having contact with old French oak.
