White nectarine along with yellow peach and citrus zest combined with notes of warm brioche. The vibrant palate offers a lovely balance of lemon juice and grapefruit with an alluring textural component and toasted hazelnuts and finishing with vibrant, mouth-watering acidity.

Technical:

A drier than average Winter and growing season led to lower yields in the 2019 vintage. However, the warm January and February also ensured that Eden Valley vineyards stayed relatively disease free leading to healthy fruit. Decisions around picking were made carefully to ensure that natural acidity was retained alongside exceptional varietal characteristics. Selected parcels of premium Eden Valley fruit were picked at optimum flavour development while still retaining excellent acidity. Fermentation was in 500 litre puncheons, 56% of which were new and the balance all 1 to 2 years old. Refreshing acidity was retained by limiting malolactic fermentation. Selected parcels also had battonage to add texture, complexity and mouth feel. The final blend was created from a selection of individual barrels.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated - Dave Brookes James Hallidays Wine Companion
"Eden Valley chardonnay, fermented in 500L puncheons (56% new) and matured with selected bâtonnage for 9 months before bottling. Pale straw in the glass with aromas of nectarine, white peach and citrus along with hits of soft spice, struck match, oatmeal, nougat, white flowers and stone. Clotted cream, vanillin oak and mealy notes join in on the creamy, mouth-filling palate, with a ripe buttery finish that trails off slowly."

91 Point Rated Huon Hooke The Real Review
"Light yellow colour. Smoky and toasty bouquet—an attractive fruit-oak combination, intense grapefruit as well. The wine is bright and penetrating, with lively acidity that has a citrusy grapefruit and lemon flavour. Medium length. A stylish chardonnay of attractive flavour and character."
