The Petaluma White Label Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2025 is a standout example of cool-climate winemaking, crafted with precision by one of Australia’s most respected wine families. Sourced from two exceptional vineyards in Lenswood and Balhannah, this release reflects Petaluma’s long-held philosophy of expressing the individuality of each site. Under the guidance of winemaker Andrew Hardy—custodian of the vineyards and longtime collaborator of the legendary Brian Croser since 1982—the wine showcases purity, structure and the region’s unmistakable elegance. Fermentation in a combination of one- and two-year-old French oak barriques and stainless steel allows for the perfect interplay between fruit brightness and subtle oak influence.
The nose opens with vibrant citrus notes, accompanied by hints of white peach and delicate stone fruit aromatics. On the palate, layers of grapefruit, melon and peach unfold in a refreshing, fruit-forward style, supported by crisp natural acidity and beautifully restrained oak. The wine carries a fresh, modern cool-climate character yet retains enough texture and weight to offer depth and complexity. Its pedigree is reinforced by the ongoing success of previous vintages—92 Points from Ken Gargett and 90 Points from Tom Kline of Wine Pilot, along with the proud recognition of Petaluma as a 5 Red Star Halliday winery.
Versatile and impeccably balanced, this Chardonnay pairs effortlessly with grilled prawns, garlic butter chicken, creamy pasta, seared scallops, roast vegetables or soft cheeses. Enjoy now for its vibrant fruit clarity, or cellar over the medium term to reveal added nuance and savoury complexity.
