Tasting Notes:

A dry, crisp wine. Wonderfully balanced with a nice acidity. The limestone soil gives it a gripping mineral character with fine aromas of peach, apricot and lime. Good with fish, light meat, salads or asparagus.

Technical:

Saumagen is situated in the western part of Kallstadt. It is considered the best part of Kallstadt and even one of the best in Germany. The vineyard is not very large. Covering barely 100 acres, it yields about 300,000 bottles of wine per year. The climate is generally cool, with risk of frost. The soil is rich with limestone and gravel. Fermentation and aging is done in steel tanks.
