Tasting Notes:

In the glass, the Hill-Smith Estate Chardonnay is pale gold with tinges of green. The wine has lifted aromas of citrus zest and white nectarine overlaid with subtle notes of struck flint and toasted cashew nuts. Showing greater than usual restraint, the palate is finely textured with citrus, quince and stone fruit flavours. The white nougat creaminess is nicely balanced by a fresh natural acidity and persistent fruit length.

Technical:

An absolutely amazing Chardonnay from one of Australia's great wine making families! This vibrant, pure and textured Chardonnay is the result of a hands off winemaker philosophy, starting with the natural wild yeast ferment and finishing after 11 months in fine grained French oak.

Accolades & Awards:

91 Point Rated Aaron Brasher The Real Review

Bright, fresh and lifted on the nose, plenty of white peach, jasmine, grapefruit pith and nougat. The palate is all about nectarine, tangelo and nutty oak. Long and full flavoured with plenty of crunchy acidity. Not overtly complex, but a lot to like here.

Highly Rated Campbell Mattinson The Wine Front

We get a reasonable serving-size of flavour here, all grilled stonefruit and cracked wheat, but it somehow still manages to feel lean and lacking in flesh. It works in a ‘fruity and refreshing’ way but there isn’t a lot to recommend it beyond that.
