A delicate light to medium bodied Chardonnay. Aromas of matchstick flint, lifted florals and white stone fruits are complemented with toasted nut characters on the palate. High altitude sites produce premium fruit which is balanced with lively acidity giving elegance and a lingering finish.

Technical:

Continuing a 5-generation family winemaking tradition, Hamish and Kate Laurie created their first wine from the 30yo Laurie family-owned vineyard on Deviation Road in '02. In ’04 Hamish and Kate purchased their property at Longwood, which is the current home to 4ha of shiraz and pinot noir, the winery and tasting room. Disgorging equipment from Kate’s family’s Manjimup winery, originally imported from Champagne, was shipped to the Adelaide Hills in ’08 enabling the first Deviation Road traditional method sparkling wine release. Hamish and Kate consistently produce wines that represent the cool-climate terroir of the Adelaide Hills.

Accolades & Awards:

94 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion

"A well made chardonnay, all the inputs skilfully handled. Fermentation and 6 months maturation in used French barrels works well with the medium-weight fruit, natural citrusy acidity a feature."

92 Point Rated - Stuart Know The Real Review

"Feijoa hints along with some wet stone notes, the palate has focused green apple and papaya characters, with a hint of struck flint giving complexity. Still unfurling but there's ample intensity and drive to a long finish."
