Tasting Notes:

Our Vermentino is a pale lemon colour with silver hues. Aromas of lime, grapefruit and lemongrass jump from the glass and carry to a fresh fruit driven palate. Lychee, flint and fresh ginger notes add to depth of the wine with crisp acidity providing a mineral aspect to the long persistent finish.

Technical:

A mild summer and cool nights resulted in a long ripening period and good fresh fruit flavours in most white varieties. In the vineyard, flavour ripeness came well before sugar levels were achieved and thus lower alcohol 2017 white wines will be prevalent.

Harvest timing was determined by flavour development along with sugar and acid levels in achieving ideal ripeness. Harvest took place in the cool of the night in retaining fresh fruit flavours and minimising oxidation before transport to our Yenda based winery. Fruit was destemmed and chilled to our bag presses with the free run fraction separated for this wine. The free-run juice was lightly clarified before a slot fermentation at cool temperatues of 14-16C using a carefully selected yeast in optimising varietal epression. After a short period on yeast less the wine was blended, stabilised and filtered for bottling in showcasing its fresh varietal fruit flavours.
