Tasting Notes:

The Miceli Iolanda Mornington Peninsula Pinot Grigio 2023 is a beautifully refined cool-climate white crafted in a true Italian-inspired style, showcasing savoury texture, vibrant natural acidity and remarkable varietal purity. Produced on the Mornington Peninsula — one of Australia’s premier cool-climate wine regions — this Pinot Grigio delivers elegance, freshness and food-friendly sophistication that sets it apart from sweeter, fruit-driven styles commonly seen in the Australian market.

Named in honour of the Miceli family’s youngest daughter, Iolanda, this wine reflects both heritage and craftsmanship. Crafted with minimal intervention and without excessive refrigeration or overly protective handling, the winemaking approach allows the grape and region to express themselves naturally, resulting in a Pinot Grigio with character, texture and authenticity.

In the glass, the wine presents with vibrant freshness and a savoury edge, opening with lifted pear, citrus and subtle orchard fruit aromas layered with delicate spice and mineral complexity. The palate is crisp, dry and beautifully structured, delivering lively acidity and long-lasting flavours that flow effortlessly across the finish. Its savoury profile and refined texture give it a distinctly European feel while still retaining the purity and brightness that define premium Mornington Peninsula wines.

Critically acclaimed across multiple leading reviewers, this release earned 94 points from Sam Kim along with 93-point ratings from Campbell Mattinson and Ray Jordan, plus 92 points from Ken Gargett, firmly establishing it as one of Australia’s standout Pinot Grigio releases.

Exceptionally versatile with food, this Pinot Grigio pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, grilled calamari, prawns, sushi, Thai cuisine, antipasto platters, Asian-inspired dishes or light Mediterranean fare, where its crisp acidity and savoury complexity truly shine.

Accolades & Awards:

94 Point Rated - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

It's finely expressed on the nose with aromas of green pear, lemon peel, dried grass, and oatmeal nuances. The palate is brilliantly focused and linear, offering bright fruit flavours with fine texture and vibrant acidity, making it mouth-watering and persistent. At its best: now to 2028.

93 Point Rated - Campbell Mattinson

This is an excellent pinot grigio. It’s powerful, it’s fresh, it’s complex and it extends well. It tastes of pears, citrus, blackcurrant bud and tonic water, and while it’s all about the juiciness of its fruit it also has a dry, stony, almost chalky aspect to the finish, which helps with the overall mouthfeel. This is a dry, clean white wine with a bit of attitude. The quality here is clear.

93 Point - Rated Ray Jordan

Mornington Peninsula pinot grigio with texture and fine precision. The nose shows pear, apple crumble, honey-like character. Palate adds spice for complexity, crisp energy, delicate acidity, and a long finish. Elegant, finely balanced.

92 Point - Rated Ken Gargett

Named after the family’s youngest daughter, this is a fine Pinot Grigio from the Mornington Peninsula. Winemaking includes the use of whole bunches and wild fermentation, as well as time on lees. Very pale lemon in colour, this is a refined style but it is certainly not lacking in flavour. Notes of crisp pears, spices and a touch of citrus, all of which is well supported by river stones. There is good focus, a seductive texture and clean acidity. The finish lingers attractively and this should provide pleasure over the next four years.
