Tasting Notes:

Pale straw in colour. A lifted, delicate nose with fresh lemon zest, green apple and pear notes which are enhanced by a subtle savoury complexity. A fresh, fruit driven palate with a fine persistent bead. Layers of cream and softness, derived from the bottle fermentation are complemented by the crisp, clean finish.

Technical:

The Colonial Estate's approach to making wines in Australia has been French influenced. This is what separates The Colonial Estate from most Australian wineries. No expense has been spared with only the finest of winemaking practices being utilised. Our aim is to produce wines of outstanding stature to set them apart from all the rest!

Of course, I had to taste it before deciding how to spread it around - I have a simple system: the best gets shared only with my wife, the worst gets given away to underserving causes, and there are several stages in between. At the absurdly low price, I was happy to share this with other family members. It is by no means a great wine, but it is more than serviceable, showing the main hallmarks of the blend. I am about to buy more.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Bob drop from Graet expectations I'm not a consistent or regular drinker of sparkling wine but my wife is. I lean towards the highly acidic, citrus and clean tasting style. My wife is more forgiving and this wine falls into that category. It is a rounded style without being too full. It definitely reflects the characteristics of the region in which it is produced in my view in that it tries to be big but doesn’t quite get there. I found it somewhere in the middle and more suited to have with food than as an aperitif as you might with other styles.
