Tasting Notes:

The dark fruit spectrum which tends to be a feature of this vintage is very apparent in this wine, with earthy fruits and roasted beetroot. The palate has a density like no other Pinot Noir that we produce, with textured tannins and a lot of generosity, but all within a firm framework, giving the wine a nice balance.

Technical:

This is the second single release of Pinot Noir from the Jimjoca vineyard, it is a blend of the two north facing Pinot Noir blocks within the property. The wine was matured in a mix of puncheons (25%) and barriques (75%) with 20% new and the majority three years old or more. The wine was bottled without filtration.

Accolades & Awards:

93 Points - James Halliday

"The third release from this vineyard close to Balnarring, matured in French oak (20% new). The bouquet is fragrant, and there's energy and drive to the fresh, light to medium-bodied palate and its long, neatly textured and structured palate fits the bill nicely. Dips slightly on the back-palate before surging back on the finish and aftertaste."

93 Points - Huon Hooke

"Deepish red colour with purple tints. A shy subdued bouquet, with subtle black cherry notes and a full, rich, ripely rounded palate with ample tannins and satisfying depth. The finish is quite powerful and the aftertaste follows through with considerable drive and energy. Excellent wine in a bigger style."
