Tasting Notes:

Plummy red with vivid purple hues in colour. Sweet, ripe berry fruit aromas. The generous, medium bodied palate is dominated by fresh, fruit-forward plum and strawberry flavours, while soft tannins fill the give the wine a delightfully lingering finish.

Technical:

First planted by founder, Nick Holmes, over 30 years ago, Shottesbrooke takes its name from an estate in Berkshire, England, where Nick’s grandfather was vicar of the parish from 1905 to 1926. Today, Shottesbrooke is proudly an estate grown and managed boutique winery. Located in the beautiful and tranquil McLaren Vale, just 45 minutes from Adelaide in South Australia, and set in the foothills of the Fleurieu Peninsula, the award winning cellar door, opened in 1995, has magnificent views over the gum studded vineyards.

The fruit for the Shottesbrooke Regional Series is sourced from a combination our own vineyards and carefully selected contract growers in the premium vineyard areas of South Australia. Conventional winemaking techniques were used to craft this wine. The grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness to ensure no overripe characters crept into the finished product. The style of this wine is fresh, fruit forward and easy drinking, displaying all the varietal character expected of our Regional Series wines.

This is smooth and full of flavour. 1838 was my backstop but with competition from this and limestone coast they haven't been on my list for a while.
