McLaren Vale, South Australia

Grape Variety: Shiraz

Bottle Top: Stelvin
Alcohol Content: 14.60
Standard Drinks: 8.60
Rating: 95
Tasting Notes:

This intense and powerful wine exhibits a bouquet of lifted blackcurrant, violets and mint, with bramble notes and hints of mocha oak. With the palate showing intense briary blackberry, red currant and spicy plum, enhanced by traces of quince, red capsicum and subtle cedary oak. Approachable now or will develop with correct cellaring.

Technical:

The outstanding 2015 vintage guaranteed slow ripening and distinctive varietal character for the late Petit Verdot and the robust Shiraz. We believe these two varieties complement each other perfectly. We selected Petit Verdot from the OTC, Siberia, Jones and Katunga vineyards, with the Shiraz parcels from the Bellevue, Johnston Prolific, Katunga and Stubble Quail blocks.

Accolades & Awards:

95 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion

"A savvy move to meld such a late ripening variety as verdot with the excessive shiraz, a grape better grown in cooler zones than McLaren Vale or Barossa. As contentious as my view may be, I will voice it. Verdot's indomitable carapace of tannins holds court to shiraz's dark fruit tones. Shiraz wants to billow across the mouth and overwhelm everything in its path in a soporific claim to fame, however short-lived. Verdot has other ideas. For the better. Pulpy. Firm. Delicious."

5 Star & 94 Point Rated - Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Gorgeously fruited and lifted, the wine shows dark fruit intensity together with seductive notes of cocoa, toasted nut and dark spices on the nose. The palate is equally satisfying with excellent weight and fruit power, beautifully framed by fine texture and polished tannins. "
