Orlando Lawson’s Padthaway Shiraz 2013 is only made in the very best vintages, and the standout quality of 2013 is immediately evident in the glass. The warm, dry growing season delivered exceptional flavour concentration, while a cooler autumn allowed slow, even ripening, producing fruit of remarkable depth. Sourced exclusively from the original 2.8-hectare J Block on Lawson’s Vineyard, this iconic single-vineyard wine shows deep crimson colour with brilliant purple hues and intensity that reflects its heritage as one of Australia’s most respected Shiraz releases.
The nose is powerful and layered, revealing dark red fruits, liquorice, plum and chocolate intertwined with charry French and American oak. Extended maceration on skins and 18 months maturation in a combination of premium hogsheads has shaped a palate that is rich, plush and full-bodied, delivering brooding blackberry and dark cherry wrapped in assertive, finely structured tannins. This is Shiraz built for longevity, earning seven individual 95-point ratings and ten gold medals, confirming its reputation as one of Australia’s most iconic wines from a region celebrated for power and elegance.
The intensity of fruit, layered oak and structural tannin provide the foundation for a long future ahead, and careful cellaring will continue revealing new layers over the next 15–20 years. Today, the palate is breathtakingly complete, with silk-edged richness, chocolate-coated berry depth and a savoury undercurrent of spice, all framed by impressive length. Decanting is recommended to showcase its complexity, especially when pairing with food. This Lawson’s Shiraz is exceptional with slow-roasted lamb shoulder seasoned with rosemary, Wagyu rib-eye cooked over charcoal, braised beef cheeks with truffle mash, aged cheddar, or a fire-roasted mushroom ragù where fruit weight and umami meet in perfect balance.
Prestige in every sip. Trophy-winning pedigree. Multi-gold accolades. A museum-release Lawson’s Shiraz presented at Australia’s best price — a rare opportunity to secure a 12-year-old single-vineyard wine with proven cellaring performance and a legacy that continues redefining Padthaway Shiraz at the highest level.

95 Point Rated - James Halliday Wine Companion
"A cacophony of choc-mint. Blackberries, cherries and figs. This wine has the familiarity of a mint slice biscuit, but with the added amusement of not remembering they tasted THAT good. Coffee grinds, vanilla pod and licorice root. Acidity leads the palate with fine-grained tannins and a dry finish. Medium weighted, the sweetness of oak is now enveloped into the wine and its fruit and spice shines through. Red brick and cinnamon on the finish. Joyous drinking."
