Tasting Notes:

Picked early in early March from the oldest pinot noir vineyard at Montara, the 2015 Chalambar Road Reserve Pinot Noir shows lifted red berry fruit, spice, and sweet cedar on the nose. The palate displays complex sour cherry, crunchy red fruits, and savoury tannins, leading to a silky rounded finish. This wine was made with minimal intervention and produced utilising traditional methods including hand pruning, hand harvesting, and a portion of whole bunch fermentation before being gently pressed to quality Burgundian French oak for a 12 month maturation period. Whilst approachable in its youth, further cellaring will reward. Limited quantities available.

"Estate fruit, 100% whole bunches in the ferment, aged in new French oak barriques and hogsheads for 1 year. The best barrels are selected for the final blend. Fragrance is key here, all cherries and pips, and lightly spiced with a slight walnut-oaky character. Strangely the palate is not overly complex, enjoyable with soft plush tannins, but the lemony acid a bit pinched."
