From the prestigious James Halliday Winery of the Year, the Kilikanoon Omen Shiraz 2017 is a powerful and elegantly structured red that speaks to the legacy of one of South Australia's finest producers. Crafted from low-yielding parcels of Shiraz sourced across premium South Australian regions and matured to perfection in Kilikanoon’s Clare Valley cellars, this wine represents the pinnacle of multi-regional Shiraz expertise.
Early spring rains followed by a cool end to summer allowed for extended ripening, resulting in Shiraz fruit of extraordinary power and elegance. Each parcel was vinified separately using traditional techniques and aged for 14 months in a selection of new and seasoned French oak hogsheads, creating remarkable complexity and structure.
Deep inky purple in colour, the wine opens with seductive aromas of vanilla, blackberry, pepper, eucalyptus, and subtle liquorice. The palate is rich and smooth, with plush plum and blackberry at the core, evolving into a spicy, heady mix of dark chocolate, mint, and liquorice. The fine, powdery tannins and vibrant acidity carry the wine to a long, velvety finish that is both refined and deeply satisfying.
