Tasting Notes:

The Chateau de Beaucastel Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2019 is a true masterpiece, created in honor of Jacques Perrin, the visionary who forever shaped the legacy of Famille Perrin. As a tribute to his pioneering spirit and unwavering commitment to quality, this exceptional cuvée reflects the purity and conviction that Jacques instilled in the winery. A wine of profound character, it carries the essence of its origins—Châteauneuf-du-Pape—revealing the truth of its roots with uncompromising intensity.

This blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, and other traditional varietals creates a full-bodied, complex wine with dark fruit flavors, rich spices, and earthy undertones. The tannins are firm yet well-integrated, providing a strong structure, while the long, elegant finish leaves a lasting impression. The Hommage à Jacques Perrin is a wine that requires ideal conditions to reveal its true character, making it a rare and extraordinary expression of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir.

With a perfect 100-point rating from Joe Czerwinski of Robert Parker Wine Advocate, and 99 points from Jeb Dunnuck, this wine stands at the pinnacle of exceptional winemaking. It has also garnered 98 points from Peter Moser of Fallstaff, Wine Spectator, and Matt Walls of Decanter Magazine, affirming its place among the greatest wines of the world.

This remarkable wine pairs perfectly with hearty dishes like roasted lamb, venison, or a rich beef stew. Its complexity and structure also make it a fitting companion to aged cheeses like Comté or Parmigiano Reggiano.

Accolades & Awards:

100 Point Rated - Joe Czerwinski Robert Parker Wine Advocate
"Marvellously complex, deeply fruited and massively concentrated yet wonderfully drinkable, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin challenges the number of superlatives that can be thrown at it. Scents of violets, tree bark, truffle, purple raspberries and blackberries all appear on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is rich, dense and velvety, and the finish shows enormous richness and length. Breathtaking stuff."

99 Point Rated - Jeb Dunnuck
"The tiny production 2019 Chateauneuf Du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin is the customary blend of roughly 60% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache, and the rest Syrah and Cinsault that’s brought up in foudre. One sexy, powerful, full-bodied Southern Rhone, it sports a dense purple hue as well as a kaleidoscope-like array of blueberry, scorched earth, candied violets, pepper, and some almost northern Rhone-like meaty, smoky nuances. Full-bodied and incredibly pure, with a stacked mid-palate and ripe, supple tannins, it’s another vintage of this cuvee that will undoubtedly offer pleasure in it youth yet won’t hit prime time for a solid 7-8 years, and it should see its 30th birthday in fine form. Drink 2028 - 2049."

"Glass-staining ruby. A deeply perfumed bouquet features black raspberry, cherry liqueur, boysenberry, exotic spice and floral scents that show outstanding definition and smoky mineral lift. Sweet and penetrating in the mouth, offering wonderfully concentrated black and blue fruit preserve, violet pastille, spicecake and savory herb flavours that possess unlikely vivacity for their depth. The strikingly long, floral- and spice-driven finish is shaped by steadily building tannins that play nicely with the wine's intense fruit. Drink 2028 - 2041"

98 Point Rated - Matt Walls Decanter Magazine
"Aromatically lifted, strongly showing the floral, violet, dimension of Mourvèdre. Very silky and stylish, luxurious but not opulent. Ripe, with great tannic finesse, amply weighted, but more a vintage about finesse than power. Very well balanced, almost drinkable already. It will age on its balance, not for as long as some recent vintages perhaps, but that's of no great consequence – it’s still an exceptional wine. Around 60% of the blend comes from old-vine Mourvedre from their Courrieux vineyard. Grapes are de-stemmed, fermented in tronconic wooden vats using natural yeasts after a brief cold maceration, with regular punching down. Drink 2023 - 2045."
