Tasting Notes:

Crimson cherry red with violet hues. A full flavoured palate of cherry, red fruit and black olive with notes of game and earth. The tannins are fine and delicate and slightly chalky with great flavour persistence. This wine is distinctly savoury and a perfect match for Mediterranean food. Complex nose of dark cherries, blood plums and liquorice with a note of forest floor and dried herbs.

Technical:

Vines are planted on a northerly slope, hand cane pruned, vertical shoot positioned and bunch thinned to ensure good flavour ripeness and colour. The fruit was hand harvested early in the morning while the fruit was still cool. The grapes were crushed and destemmed and fermented in small open fermenters and hand plunged 3 times per day. Fermentation was carried out with indigenous yeast and the must was pressed off the skins after 16 days. Natural malolactic fermentation took place within the next 4 weeks and then the wine was matured in 5th & 7th fill French oak barriques for a further 18 months. Unfined and unfiltered.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Ken Boyd from Initial opening revealed globules of egg white however the wine maker on contact suggested it was Quercetin an antioxidant that is added. It was suggested I filter the wine with a strainer. 24 hours after opening I did strain and aerate the wine. The initial globules ? had dissipated leaving a very plesant Sangiovese 2013 wine. Going to try it again however would find it disappointing should this occur once again. Winemaker informs me that their wines are unfiltered Interesting!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by frank7 from Adequate I purchased 1 dozen of this wine. Only 4 were drinkable. The others contained strands and globs of a white gelatinous substance in the wine. Either this company has a problem with bottle hygiene or the wine itself was not strained. Whatever the cause I don't like gobies in my wine. It was a disgusting experience.
