Tasting Notes:

Intense aromas of violets, blackberry and subtle chocolate herald this mouth staining Durif's inky dark fruit characters of blackberry, anise and smoky liquorice that fill the concentrated palate. The well integrated oak and tight tannins add complexity and depth that persists to a long flavoursome finish. Enjoy with BBQ T-Bone steak with chimichurri salsa.

Technical:

This parcel of Durif has been chosen from premium selected vineyards overlooking Griffith in the Riverina, New South Wales. The Durif was one of the last parcels to be picked late in vintage 2017 - the rich, ripe fruit concentrated the varietal flavours of violets and blackberries and enchances aromas of anise and cinamon.

The fruit was destemmed and crushed then fermented in static fermenters for five days and pumped over regularly to optimise colour stability and tannin structure. The wine was drained, pressed and stored in stainless steel tanks until malolactic fermentation was complete. It was then transferred onto French oak staves and barrels and matures for approximately four months, giving a subtle and delicate oak influence.

Accolades & Awards:

James Halliday Wine Companion Review;

"It doesn't die wondering. It charges ironstone and prune/plum flavours straight at you, the result unsubtle but effective-enough. Length isn't its strong suit but there's volume to the mid-palate."
