Impressively aromatic and perfumed showing purple fruits, violets and dark cherries. A fragrant, seductive and alluring wine, it is smooth, fleshy, spicy and balanced with a long finish. Pair with lamb en croute, redcurrant sauce and watercress salad or spicy Thai peanut sauce over roasted sweet potatoes and rice.

"It's just got that extra linger of flavour. It's a smooth river of licorice, black cherry, sweet spice and deli meat characters and when combined with supple texture, fine-grained tannin and floral highlights it marks itself as just a little bit special."

"From the cooler Eden Valley, this Shiraz Viognier is alluring and seductive.
The Viognier component was pressed off with the skins added to the Shiraz ferment to increase texture and complexity. Fifteen percent Shiraz whole bunches were also used to add further interest.
Pretty scents captivate from the outset. Blue flowers, violets and purple fruit swarm reaching out to entice. Such a refined wine now, the next few years will continue to draw its best.
Raspberries dipped in dark chocolate run at you upon opening. Once that juvenile charm rushes through, you're met with red licorice, coconut husk and dark cherries. There's great width through the mouth with the words elegance and persistence bouncing around my mind. Fine spices close on a luxurious finish. A gorgeous wine."

"This is minty, meaty and well-flavoured. In fact it has all the fruit and volume that you would expect, not to mentioned the general engagement, but it has more going on that you might have predicted. It’s both a complex red and a generous one. It feels as though it’s been intricately crafted. They’ve done well here. It’s very good."
Christina Pickard - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
"This relatively big-boned Eden Valley Shiraz, this may taut the fact it's cofermented with Viognier, but it only sees 2% of the variety. Nevertheless, even a smidgeon of Viognier seems to lift an often heavy grape like Shiraz into slightly brighter territory. This version opens with red-cherry aromas along with dried herbs, Christmas spices and a mealy oak character. In the mouth, tannins grip and dry the tongue, but not enough to push out the plush fruit. Savory, herbal flavors linger on the finish."
A moderate winter led to a warm and dry spring, which resulted in a healthy start to the growing season. This moderate weather continued into summer until the end of January, when approximately 25mm of rain fell throughout the Barossa. The rain was welcomed and gave the vines a much needed drink to finish off ripening the grapes. The warm days during summer and autumn were mediated by cool nights, leading to great acid retention and pristine fruit flavours being exhibited in all of our Eden Valley red wines.
Traditionally, the Yalumba Hand Picked Shiraz Viognier wines have been crushed and fermented together as batches of Shiraz grapes each with a small percentage of Viognier grapes. However in 2006 we began to utilise the skins only of the Viognier grapes by first separating most of the juice from the Viognier skins and then fermenting the remaining skins with select parcels of Shiraz grapes. This method of using skins on their own provides us with another dimension of aroma and texture that increases the flavour and complexity of this alluring wine. 2015 we introduced whole bunch fermentation, approximately
15% for this vintage, adding an extra degree of complexity and intrigue to the wine. After fermentation all batches are drained, pressed and then racked to barrel for maturation.
