An enthralling wine from this vintage from McLaren Vale, it is dark maroon in colour. The nose offers spices, leather, warm earth, dry herbs, mulberries, soy, black fruits and cloves. A mouthfilling style, this is seamless and lingers with intent. A fine line of acidity, it is young but it delivers. It will provide pleasure for ten to fifteen years. There is real power here and no hiccups.

Wonderfully fruited and elegantly expressed on the nose, showing blackberry, olive, game and toasted nut characters, followed by a succulent palate displaying plump mouthfeel combined with fleshy texture and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2036.

A tightly held and controlled wine, that right now is a little shy and coy about letting us know what it’s got. But the old vines which contributed to this wine know their stuff and as it matures will gradually release its potential. Has leafy dusty aromas with a minerally edge. On the palate the dried herb and lifted leafy characters overlay the medium weight fruit. An elegant wine. Cellar: 12 years.
