Tasting Notes:

Bright ruby colour. Generous aromas of ripe blackberry, mint, and toasted oak. The palate is well rounded, light-to-medium bodied and smooth, plum and blackberry notes with some more detailed nuances of cranberry juice. It has silky-smooth texture and pure freshly cut fruit flavours being the key component.

Technical:

A quick flowering period with warm temperatures enables a great fruit set which gave us dark coloured wine with outstanding fruit concentration and acid structure. Fermentation was in both open and static fermenters, extended maceration was key to develop complexity between the fruit and tannins.

I have had a number of excellent Pinot from Adelaide Hills, so thought this was worth a try. To be honest, I have only had 2 bottles, but they were both really good examples of Adelaide Hills Pinot. Fuller bodied than the Kiwi versions, but with no less flavour. I can't say it is the best I have had, but I would definitely buy it again (if I knew what it actually is).

Rated 2 out of 5 by redgrapes from Unlabelled for a reason! We have only had our first bottle of this Adelaide Hills pinot noir and were disappointed. We would definitely have been asking our money back if we paid the claimed $40/bottle price of its labelled siblings. Its drinkable but is quite dull on the palate and not worth even the heavily discounted price. There were no clues on the box or packaging to indicate the winery, and now we know why.
