Watershed Select Vineyards Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

This wine displays aromas of peaches, citrus and tropical fruit. On the palate, this fruit driven wine shows creamy texture with a soft round finish.

Normans Old Vine Barossa Valley Chardonnay

Norman Wines is one of the oldest and most respected names in Australian winemaking. Since 1853, when Jesse Norman planted his first vines in South Australia, Normans has developed a reputation for producing premium wines of elegance and finesse. This Creamy Chardonnay is beautifully balanced with fresh flavours of citrus and tropical fruit. It is an elegant wine with a buttery texture that is to be enjoyed now.

Oxford Landing River Crossing Chardonnay 2018

Pale straw green in colour. Aromas of fresh cut peach flesh with accents of wild honey and hints of lemon myrtle. These are supported by fig and cinnamon spice complexities from wild fermentation. Layers of flavour build across the medium bodied palate, and reflect not only the fruit but the use of wild fermentation and ageing on yeast lees. On the palate the slightest hint of oak comes through as a hint of cinnamon and spice, highlighting the complexity derived from barrel matured reserve wine. Balanced acidity gives the wine thrust through to the refreshing finish. Deliciously accompanies gnocchi with sautéed broad beans, feta, lemon and sage. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

The Dorothy Victorian Chardonnay 2019

Yellow/green straw colour. Stone fruit, melon and apricot. Full flavoured displaying stone fruit characters along with some melon and apricot notes. Wonderful length and well-balanced acid and fruit weight are complimented by subtle notes of oak.

Normans Holbrooks Road Chardonnay 2020

Pale straw with green hues. Highly aromatic style showing lovely notes of tropical fruit highlighted by peach, mango and citrus blossom.Fruit driven unoaked style reflecting characters on nose perfectly with peach, fresh mango, and cream. Overall fine and creamy with a touch of nuttiness and zingy citrus.  A refreshing wine with beautiful natural fruit acidity providing length and the finish is savory and textural.

Juniper Estate Crossing Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

Light straw in colour, this has an attractive nose showing fruit characters of white peach and nectarine, melon and preserved lemon along with floral notes of jasmine plus mineral, cashew, spicy mealy toasty notes from the oak and yeast lees contact. The palate is silky smooth with a succulent fleshy fruit texture, finely structured while finishing crisp and clean.

Walker Barossa Valley Chardonnay

Pale straw in colour, the nose exhibits powerful aromas of peaches and cream, with subtle hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla, along with ripe tropical fruits. The palate is richly flavoured with peach, pineapple and apricot, followed by a buttery toast character which gives a creamy mouthfeel. The sweet-fruited, complex and densely flavoured palate is creamy and decadent, yet the finish is crisp and clean with wonderful length of flavour.

Technical:

Watershed Select Vineyards Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

The 2018 Select Vineyards Chardonnay is made to produce an easy drinking, soft and fruity wine style. The Fruit used in this wine has been sourced from Jindong and Wallcliffe sub region of Margaret River.

Oxford Landing River Crossing Chardonnay 2018

Winemaking The Chardonnay for this wine is sourced from vineyards in South Australia, where our access to the latest clonal and rootstock combinations continues to deliver outstanding fruit typified by stone fruit, melon and grapefruit flavours. Our winemaking is focused on minimal intervention with the use of wild yeasts, malolactic fermentation, lees contact and subtle oak to give our Chardonnay depth, complexity and personality. Oxford Landing Estates Chardonnay is grown on a range of red sandy soils over limestone. Carefully controlled irrigation of these individual sites allows for optimal fruit flavour to develop.

The Dorothy Victorian Chardonnay 2019

Select parcels of fruit were sourced from premium vineyards across Victoria’s premium viticultural sub regions.. The fruit was picked during the cool early hours of the morning. The fruit was then rapidly transported to the winery and immediately crushed, chilled and pressed. It is then allowed to settle before being racked off of juice lees, warmed and inoculated with selected dried wine yeasts. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks of various sizes at 12-18 degrees. 30% of the wine of the wine was fermented in French oak barrels to add a touch of complexity and texture to the wine. The finished parcels are carefully assessed, with only the finest chosen for the final blend prior to bottling.

Normans Holbrooks Road Chardonnay 2020

Machine harvested in the cool early hours of the morning from a single vineyard in South Australia’s Riverland region. We crushed, chilled and fermented the juice at controlled temperatures in the cool cellar. Extended lees stirring added a degree of complexity ensuring this wine over delivers in terms of quality and overall structure despite the use of no oak. The wine was bottled after careful filtration to retain the vibrant fruit and depth of varietal flavours.

Juniper Estate Crossing Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

Post ferment the lees were stirred regularly. The barrel and tank components were blended after 9 months, then returned to tank and further aged on lees for another 5 months. Sustain

93 Point Rated - Australian Wine Showcase Magazine

Juniper Estate Crossing Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

92 Point Rated - Huon Hooke Wine Of The Week

"Bright lemon juice, grapefruit and struck-flint mineral aromas, intense and bright. The wine is full-blown and round, filling the mouth, soft and ample, again minerally and tense, with river-stone overtones that are more than a little Chablis-esque. "An excellent wine and great value."

Juniper Estate Crossing Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

92 Point Rated - Ray Jordan The West Australian

‘Plenty of winemaking has gone into this quite complex value-for-money chardie. It is based on the Gin Gin clone but with other newer clones adding a little more to the overall flavour profile. It’s even had about 15 per cent new French oak, so you get to see that this has been treated rather seriously yet sells for a real bargain price for this quality.’

Juniper Estate Crossing Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

92 Point Rated - Campbell Mattinson The Wine Front

"'Mostly from the Forest Grove vineyard to the south of Margaret River. 70% is barrel fermented, the remainder into tank. The concentration here is very good. It could open the batting. It tastes of grapefruit and pear with gentle infusions of smoky bacon. A touch of quince too. It has texture and weight but it still manages to race along. The longer I looked at this the more I like it; a good sign"

Juniper Estate Crossing Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

91 Point Rated - Stuart Robinson Vinsomniac

'It spends 9m in French Oak, of which 15% is new. Stonefruit, leesy, bready notes; the 2018 guise saw an extra 5m on lees to build complexity. Fairly solid and voluminous wine,  of generosity and substance; Stonefruit, tropical fruit hints, subtle spice. Lees stirring post-ferment has built texture.  It's of moderate length, more for now I'd suggest, perhaps for short term cellaring only, to 4 years.'
