Babich Black Label Marlborough Pinot Noir 2018

Sweetly perfumed with ripe strawberry, raspberry and a hint of glazed cherry. Chocolate and earthy notes too with a hint of cedar. Generous mouthfeel with flavours of plum and red fruits. Medium weight, good length, and some fine grained tannins adding density to the finish. Pretty and poised.

Babich Marlborough Pinot Gris 2020

Aromas of ginger, pear and Braeburn apple with white floral notes and cinnamon. Fullish and rich on entry with a very smooth progression through the palate to a warm, spicy finish. Fresh fruits, apple and pear, are joined by orange and peach with a crème brûlée note lingering.

Perfumed and lifted with passionfruit, blackcurrant and sweet herbs. Mandarin notes also. Juicy and mouth filling with layers of fruit including gooseberry, blackcurrant and lemon, there is a line of minerality and touch of capsicum also. Long bright and balanced.

Babich Black Label Marlborough Pinot Noir 2018

The grapes were crushed to open top vats and fermented with frequent plunging of the cap. The wine was left on skins after ferment to assist integration then moved to 225L oak barrels, (25% new), to undergo malolactic fermentation and mature for 7 months. After that the wine was blended, lightly fined and bottled.

Fruit was harvested from our Echelon and Cowslip Valley vineyards in the Waihopai Valley and Headwaters vineyard in the Wairau. The fruit spent about 5 hours on skins to extract more flavour and build mouthfeel. While predominately tank fermented, a significant proportion is fermented in seasoned oak barrels to increase complexity.

Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020

This is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which is consistently produced in a fuller, riper, softer style that develops well. This wine is clean, fresh and tropical, with fruit from several vineyards situated throughout Marlborough. Grapes from our various Marlborough vineyards were picked, crushed and pressed at perfect ripeness. the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks at various temperatures, and with a mix of wild and inoculated yeast, to capture the unique combined qualities of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and also build in some textural and flavour complexity. After extensive tastings by the winemakers this blend was assembled, lightly fined and bottled.
