Tasting Notes:

The Reschke Armenta Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is an exceptional expression of the renowned Coonawarra terroir, showcasing over a century of winemaking heritage. Originating from the Reschke family, who have been cattle graziers in the region since 1906, this wine is a true reflection of their commitment to producing top-tier Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand-pruned and managed vines ensure low yields, resulting in rich, flavour-packed berries that embody the essence of the land.

After harvest, the grapes are matured in small French oak casks, which enhances the softness and elegance of the wine. The resulting wine is fruit-driven, with vibrant notes of morello cherry, blackcurrant, and a touch of pepper spice. The palate is full-bodied and well-structured, with silky tannins and an elegant finish, perfectly balanced to highlight the varietal characteristics of Coonawarra’s iconic Cabernet Sauvignon.

Awarded 95 Points by Sam Kim (Wine Orbit) and receiving 5 Stars, this wine is an impressive reflection of its heritage and the Coonawarra region. With its fine structure and lasting impression, the Reschke Armenta Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 is a remarkable wine that will age beautifully or can be enjoyed now with a rich meal like roast lamb, beef Wellington, or hard cheeses.

Accolades & Awards:

95 Point Rated - Wine Showcase Magazine

95 Point Rated & 5 Stars Sam Kim Wine Orbit
"A gorgeous rendition of the variety, showing blackcurrant, cedary oak, dried herb and toasted spice aromas, followed by a finely expressed palate that's succulent and supple. Wonderfully framed by layers of chalky tannins, finishing harmonious and persistent. At its best: now to 2036. $130.00."

93 Point Rated - Ken Gargett Wine Pilot

"Ten days on skins here, with time in small French oak barrels, this was harvested from the Henry Albert vineyard in Coonawarra. The colour is an opaque maroon and there is lots to love with the swirling perfumes from the aromas. Chocolate, blackberries and cassis, cigar boxes, mint and licorice make for an attractive lifted nose. The palate is equally compelling – seamless, focused and offering very good length. Sleek tannins and good balance to be found here. This will provide pleasure for a good ten years and more. Expect the score to rise over that period."

92 Point Rated - Shanteh Wale James Halliday Wine Companion

"Blackberries and their thorns, sage leaf and dark cherry skin. Soft licorice, kirsch and espresso. A Fisherman's Friend of spice and menthol. The palate opens with blackberries and turns to a coolness from spearmint and rosemary. Tannins are quite powdery and fine, with galloping acidity that builds. This is full of wild herbs and bramble. Drinking well now and would befit a melt-in-your-mouth tenderloin or wagyu steak."
