Tasting Notes:

Star bright, pale straw in colour. The bouquet is of fresh citrus blossom, sliced apple, gooseberry fool, lemon curd, & blackcurrant notes with a suggestion of crushed herbs & beeswax. Light to medium-bodied with a gorgeously rounded, textural mouthfeel. A riper expression showing white peach, lime & grapefruit flavours with subtle hints of passionfruit, fennel & salinity. Beautifully balanced. Lingering, dry, zesty, citrus finish. Try this with grilled seafood or a spring vegetable linguine.


Technical:

A wet winter & spring impacted fruit set, leading to reduced yields. Yet, 2022 was an outstanding vintage. Warm, dry conditions in summer & autumn provided exceptional growing & ripening conditions. Bird pressure was greatly reduced due to strong flowering of native flora. Remarkable quality.

The Semillon was picked between 22nd February - 10th March, the Sauvignon Blanc was picked between 1st - 9th March. The Semillon comes from our two Wilyabrup vineyards whilst the Sauvignon Blanc is grown on our Karridale vineyard to the south. Both vineyards are sustainably farmed following organic principles.

A blend of Semillon (60%) & Sauvignon Blanc (40%). 98% was fermented in stainless steel tanks & 2% (all Sauvignon Blanc) fermented in barrel. The tank portion was cold-fermented to aid with both flavour & freshness, the barrel component was whole-bunch pressed & wild-fermented. Both components were stirred on lees to help build texture.

90 Point Rated - Ray Jordan Wine Pilot
A really punchy blend of 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon Blanc delivering a beautiful current drinking white wine. The Semillon from Wilyabrup provides the power while the cooler climate Karridale savvy brings a vibrant fruitiness to the blend. A small proportion of the savvy was barrel fermented and it adds such a nice touch. Loaded with tropical fruit and a little passionfruit, fine acidity then completes a neat little current drinking wine.
