Tasting Notes:

The Eddystone Point Tasmania Pinot Gris 2024 continues the vision of its winemaking team to produce wines that are both drinkable and affordable, while capturing the undisputed quality of Tasmanian fresh produce. Located in the windswept region of Northeast Tasmania, Eddystone Point benefits from some of the most uniquely layered terrain in the world. This wine embodies the diverse and distinctive landscape of the region, showcasing the untouched natural beauty that defines Tasmania’s wine regions.

The 2024 growing season in Tasmania was near perfect, with just a few isolated frost events. The season featured good winter and spring rainfalls, followed by warm, clear days and cool nights that allowed the grapes to develop perfectly. The Pinot Gris fruit from this vintage was free from disease and had clean, ripe fruit, resulting in expressive varietal flavour profiles that shine through in the wine.

In the glass, the Eddystone Point Tasmania Pinot Gris 2024 has a pale straw colour with a green hue. The nose is lifted with spiced nashi pear and a subtle hint of rosewater, offering an aromatic experience. On the palate, the wine is lively, with melon and sweet Bosc pear flavours upfront, followed by a juicy mid-palate and a fresh, crunchy pear finish that leaves a refreshing aftertaste.

This wine pairs beautifully with a local Tasmanian cheese platter, particularly with quince paste and caramelized walnuts, making it an ideal choice for light meals or as an aperitif. The Eddystone Point Tasmania Pinot Gris 2024 has already earned 95 points from James Halliday, reinforcing its reputation for excellence in Tasmanian winemaking.

Produced by Bay of Fires Wines, the Eddystone Point range is a testament to the region’s exceptional winemaking potential, with a Trophy-winning winemaker recognized at the Tasmanian Wine Show. Whether enjoyed now or cellared for a few years, this cool climate Pinot Gris offers a perfect balance of fruit, freshness, and complexity, making it a standout wine from one of Australia’s premier cool-climate regions.

Accolades & Awards:

92 Point Rated - Regan Drew Wine Pilot

"Tasmania bats well above the national average for quality Pinot Gris, and this is no exception. Fruit coming from the Derwent Valley and from the North West Coast, and then fermented in oak. Pale straw colour with a suggestion of onion skin bronzing. Sliced beurre bosc and nashi pears, daffodil florals, a kiss of musk, waxy lemon skin and a dewy melon freshness. Carrying a little weight before Tassie acidity crispness bites. Full of flavour with pear flesh, yellow melon and blanched almonds.Bittersweet citrus shines through the tail. Well put together and balanced."
