Aromas of pear, ginger and honeysuckle with a biscuity complexity. The palate is a rich, soft up-front impact flows smoothly into apple and pear with ginger and hint of citrus elements. Well-crafted structure with length and elegance.

Technical:

The grapes were crushed and de-stemmed with 3hrs contact. Parcels of grapes were harvested from our Headwaters Organic Marlborough vineyard. The wine was fermented with wild yeast in-tank with a maximum temperature of 20 degrees to capture varietal character and build interest. The wine spent 7 months on lees.

Accolades & Awards:

90 Point Rated - Cameron Douglas The Shout

Varietal enticing bouquet of Gris with apple, pear and white fleshed fruits.  A soft white pepper layer and light lees and ginger note. Crisp and fruity with flavours that reflect the nose plus a touch of lemon and barley sugar. A dryish finish with flavours transitioning through white fleshed fruits into citrus and a hint of mineral.”

90 Points James Suckling

Some fine, flinty and mineral notes here, ahead of white melon, lime, papaya and sweet, fresh herbs. The palate has very smoothy arranged and gentle, soft texture with supple, elegant resolve.

Raymond Chan

“Full, even, straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, a little lighter on the edge.  The nose is soft and gently voluminous with fragrant aromas of yellow stonefruits and exotic florals, interwoven with spicy and mineral elements.  This has a soft density and finesse of expression.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a soft-textured and gently mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits lifted by exotic florals, along with notes of quince and spice, revealing subtle chalky mineral nuances.  The palate has light, refreshing, zesty acidity, and the wine flows along a softly textured line with a fine phenolic thread leading to an elegant, slender, lingering finish.  This is a softly mouthfilling, gently textured dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit, floral, spice and mineral flavours.”

Highly Rated The Wine Front

Pear, some cheese crackers, softness of almond, feels very dry and textural, not a great deal of flavour, though what’s there is enough to make for a dry white of some verve.

Highly Rated Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide

The 2017 vintage (3.5*) was estate-grown near Renwick, in the Wairau Valley, fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged for seven months. A fragrant, medium-bodied wine, it is peachy and slightly spicy, with fresh acidity, a touch of complexity, and a fully dry (0.8 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish. Certified organic.
