Monolith Vintners Monolithic Old Vine Barossa Valley Shiraz 2016 is a towering example of ultra-premium Barossa winemaking, sourced from 100-year-old dry-grown vines and aged an extraordinary 36 months in new French and American oak. The 2016 vintage is regarded as one of the finest in Barossa history, and this wine reflects that pedigree with extraordinary depth, power, and structure.

Poured from its wax-sealed, heavy imported bottle, the wine reveals a massive, brooding nose of dark plum, cranberry, saddle leather and scorched earth, evolving into blackcurrant, dark chocolate and spicy pepper. After a long decant, the wine opens to reveal richness and balance, with dense tannins, impressive weight, and an immense palate of black olive, toasted oak, and dried herbs.

Awarded 96 Points by Wine Showcase Magazine and 93 Points at the Melbourne International Wine Competition, this internationally acclaimed Shiraz is bold, age-worthy and unapologetically Barossan. Drink now with a long decant, or cellar with confidence for another decade or more.

Tried straight out of the bottle but nothing great but it was totally worth the wait. After opening it up it was the smoothest Shiraz ever. Very full flavoured and aged well. Also as mentioned by another reviewer it gets better the longer it breathes. I've never paid $300 for a bottle of wine and likely won't but I can't honestly say this is not worth it's full price but it's DEFINITELY worth what Get Wines charge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mr Mimi from Very Rich. I was given a box of this wine recently and have just had my first bottle. Be warned this is a big, big wine and it needs time to open up properly. I left it open for a day and it was just delicious. It’s a great wine to be appreciated and drunk with care. Highly recommended. It took me three days to finish it and it just got better and better.
