Tasting Notes:

The Hardys Tintara Shiraz 2023 stands as a proud expression of McLaren Vale heritage, crafted by Hardys Wines, one of Australia’s oldest and most respected wine producers. Founded in 1853 by Thomas Hardy, the winery has been shaping Australian wine history for over 170 years, with its iconic Tintara Winery remaining a cornerstone of quality and tradition since 1861.

Sourced from carefully selected vineyards across McLaren Vale, the 2023 vintage reflects meticulous vineyard management and strong vine health, allowing fruit to reach optimal ripeness while retaining balance and freshness. These conditions have delivered a Shiraz that is immediately appealing, yet layered with depth and structure.

In the glass, vibrant aromas of red berries, blueberries and dark cherry rise effortlessly, supported by enticing undertones of milk chocolate, liquorice and gentle spice. The palate is supple and generous, flowing with dark fruit richness framed by seamlessly integrated oak. Smooth, refined tannins provide structure without heaviness, carrying the wine through to a long, lingering and satisfying finish.

This is a classic McLaren Vale Shiraz style — rich and expressive, yet polished and approachable. It is drinking beautifully now, offering immediate enjoyment, while also possessing the balance and integrity to reward careful cellaring over the coming years.

Renowned for its consistent excellence, the previous vintage achieved 95 points and Gold Medals at both the National Wine Show of Australia and the McLaren Vale Show, reinforcing Tintara’s reputation for producing top-tier regional Shiraz year after year.

At the table, this wine shines alongside grilled rib-eye, roast lamb, slow-cooked beef, barbecue platters, or pepper-crusted sausages, while its depth and savoury complexity also pair superbly with blue cheese, aged cheddar, and mature hard cheeses. Its versatility makes it equally suited to casual entertaining or more formal dining.

Combining historic pedigree with modern precision, the Hardys Tintara Shiraz 2023 delivers outstanding value and authentic McLaren Vale character — a benchmark Shiraz from one of Australia’s great wine institutions.
