Icon Trophy Winning Winemakers Coonawarra Cabernet 2019 Cleanskin is a powerful, cellar-worthy expression sourced from three outstanding vineyards planted on Coonawarra’s famed terra rossa soils. The exceptional 2019 vintage delivered ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, with a warm, dry summer followed by cool autumn temperatures that allowed the fruit to ripen slowly while retaining vibrant acidity and structure.

Fermentation was conducted in both open and static fermenters, with extended maceration used to develop complexity and depth between fruit and tannin. The wine was then matured for up to 24 months in a mixture of new and second-fill French oak, creating a refined structure while preserving the purity of the Cabernet fruit.

In the glass, the wine reveals a deep garnet colour with a dark, concentrated core. The nose is classic Coonawarra Cabernet, offering intense aromas of blackberry, cassis and dark cherry layered with mocha, chocolate and lifted violet notes. Subtle hints of pencil shavings add complexity. On the palate, the wine shows impressive depth and persistence, unfolding with rich mulberry, ripe cherry and dark chocolate characters. Smooth, polished tannins glide across the palate, balanced beautifully by oak and acidity, while hints of leather and savoury nuance emerge on the long, elegant finish.
