Tasting Notes:

The Alamos Argentina Malbec 2024 is a vibrant and richly expressive Malbec that captures the essence of Mendoza's high-altitude vineyards. Crafted by the renowned Catena family under the celebrated Catena Zapata estate, this premium Argentine Malbec showcases the power, elegance and purity that have made Mendoza one of the world's great wine regions.

Sourced from vineyards nestled between 920 and 1,120 metres above sea level at the foothills of the Andes, the fruit benefits from warm sunny days and cool mountain nights that promote slow ripening, concentrated flavour and exceptional balance. Hand-harvested and carefully selected, each parcel reflects the Catena family's commitment to producing world-class Malbec with outstanding consistency and quality.

Deep purple with vibrant violet hues, the bouquet bursts with aromas of ripe blackberry, cassis and delicate floral notes, complemented by subtle hints of toast and sweet spice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, revealing concentrated black raspberry and dark berry fruit layered with chocolate, gentle oak and soft spice. Silky tannins provide structure and finesse, leading to a long, smooth finish that is both generous and beautifully balanced.

A perfect companion to chargrilled steak, barbecued sausages, lamb cutlets, slow-cooked beef, gourmet burgers or rich mushroom dishes, this classic Mendoza Malbec delivers exceptional quality and outstanding value in every glass.

Accolades & Awards:

91 Point Rated - James Suckling

"Alamos has long been one of the great gateways into Argentine Malbec, consistently delivering generous flavour, authenticity and remarkable value from the high altitude vineyards of Mendoza. Backed by the Catena family, pioneers of modern Argentine wine, the label draws fruit from vineyards planted at the foothills of the Andes where intense sunlight, cool mountain nights and dry conditions create reds packed with richness and freshness in equal measure. The 2024 vintage is plush, vibrant and immediately satisfying. Ripe blackberry, plum and dark cherry fruit pour from the glass alongside notes of violet, cocoa and sweet spice. There is a lovely softness to the palate, with velvety tannins wrapping around juicy dark fruits and subtle hints of mocha, vanilla and smoky herbs. Despite the richness, the cool Andean nights help preserve freshness and lift, keeping the wine balanced and energetic rather than heavy. This is exactly the sort of red that thrives with smoky, hearty food. Chargrilled ribeye, beef empanadas or slow cooked lamb with chimichurri would all be sensational matches. It would also shine beside smoky barbecue dishes, rich pasta sauces or late night burgers shared with friends. Pour a generous glass, fire up the grill and the bottle tends to disappear surprisingly quickly."
