Tasting Notes:

Lindsay Park Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

Purple with a red hue. Luscious fruit initially with blackberry and plum prominent along with a touch of spice. Plush and opulent with bright berry fruit flavours of blackberry and plum whilst so younger fruit characters of blueberry shine through on the mid palate. Toasty oak with spice and fine tannins provide length.

Normans Old Vine Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Vibrant crimson red. Strong mulberry and cherry fruit with under lying French oak which adds complexity to the bouquet. Full and vibrant fruit flavours of dark red berry and plum fill the mid palate. Soft tannins go well with the elegant under lying taste of French oak to make this a very easy drinking Cabernet Sauvignon destined to age well.

Clare Hills Clare Valley Merlot 2017 By Neil Pike

Medium to deep red colour with lovely aromas of blackcurrants, dark cherries and plum pudding. The palate is soft, rich and approachable awash with the dark fruits mentioned above. Try with grilled scotch fillet with garlic mushroom sauce.

Old Mundulla Vineyard Limestone Coast Shiraz 2017

Deep crimson in colour. notes of black cherry and plum on the nose. A juicy medium bodied palate with rich flavours of ripe berries, cherries, plus a hint of savoury oak. Refined tannins providing a lingering finish.

Southern Lights Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

It is a silken smooth Pinot Noir in a medium style with plum, cherry and aromatic herb flavours. Good depth of flavour and a firm finish.

Glen Eldon Shiraz Cabernet Merlot 2017

Deep red with a purple hue. Dark cherries, black pepper plum and chocolate. Vanilla, spice, plums abound on the front and mid palette with great length and integrated tannins from 18 months barrel maturation. This exceptional wine has not been filtered and will develop a crust over time – hence decanting is highly recommended.

Technical:

Lindsay Park Barossa Valley Shiraz 2017

The fruit for this wine was picked over 10 days from a single vineyard in the Barossa Valley ensuring a range of fruit characters despite being from a single location. We then crushed, de-stemmed and left on skins in open top fermenters for 7 days. A slow ferment then occurred at cool temperatures, the wine was pumped over to ensure fruit intensity. Once fermentation was completed the wine was pressed into old French and American barrels. The wine spent 12 months maturing in oak then under went final barrel selection prior to bottling with minimal filtration.

Normans Old Vine Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

This wine will be drinking beautifully upon release although as expected from a Norman’s premium red, will develop well in the bottle with careful cellaring over the next 7+ years.

Clare Hills Clare Valley Merlot 2017 By Neil Pike

The 2017 vintage was shaped by a cool, wet winter and spring with above average rainfall. Budburst was later than the “recent normal” due to the cooler conditions in September and consequently harvest was also a little late – we commenced vintage on March 3rd. Leading up to harvest January and February were both quite mild with no extended periods of heat and little rain. The 20mm we did receive on 20th January finished the vineyards off nicely.

The grapes for this wine were machine harvested, transported to the winery, de-stemmed into open fermenters and cold soaked for three days before fermentation began. The wine was pumped over twice daily during ferment for approx 7 days and this was followed by draining, pressing and then maturation in French oak casks for 14 months before racking and blending. The wine was stabilised and lightly filtered prior to bottling.

Old Mundulla Vineyard Limestone Coast Shiraz 2017

Carefully selected grapes from the Limestone Coast, gently pressed and slowly fermented, aged with American oak for 7 months to allow the fruit aromas to develop and tannins to naturally soften.

Southern Lights Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016

Southern Lights Pinot Noir is sourced from an established vineyard in Marlborough’s Southern Valley region.

Glen Eldon Shiraz Cabernet Merlot 2017

South Australia has been producing classic blends for over a 150 years! Rich, medium to full bodied wines that demonstrate the hallmarks of one of the world’s great wine Capitals – South Australia. Our Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot release continues this tradition.

South Australia has the enviable position as one of the world’s most consistent viticulturally areas in the world. With the majority of regions experiencing warm days and cool nights throughout the growing season. Allowing growers to consistently produce premium fruit for the many winemakers in the state.

Each variety reached 14-14.5 Baume before the fruit was machine harvested enabling quick delivery to the winery ready for crushing and fermenting.

The fruit was crushed into small 5 Tonne fermenters and fermented for 10-12 days with pump overs in the morning and again in the evening, pushing the skins down into the fermenting juice, further imparting the precious colour and flavours in to the developing wine.  After fermentation the skins were gently basket pressed for further flavour and colour extraction.  The wines are then racked to a mixture of new and three-year-old French and American oak hogsheads.  Every six months the wines were racked to tank and returned to oak, slowly removing deposits and assisting with clarity.
