The d’Arenberg The Stump Jump McLaren Vale Lightly Wooded Chardonnay 2024 is a vibrant and fruit-driven expression shaped by a complex but rewarding growing season that delivered outstanding quality across McLaren Vale’s white varieties. A wet early winter followed by dry late winter and spring encouraged early budburst, while late spring and early summer rains replenished soil moisture and supported healthy vine growth, with warm, dry conditions through January and February preserving freshness and flavour.
Harvested before the March heatwave, the Chardonnay fruit retained excellent natural acidity and balance, resulting in a wine that reflects both regional generosity and precision. In the glass, it presents a bright pale yellow hue before opening with enticing aromas of ripe yellow peach, papaya and rockmelon layered with subtle creamy notes. The palate bursts with juicy tropical fruit, peach and melon flavours, supported by gentle oak-derived creaminess and a finely tuned acid line that brings freshness, structure and flow through the wine.
Lightly wooded to enhance texture without overshadowing fruit purity, this release offers immediate appeal while maintaining impressive balance and drinkability. Its pedigree is reinforced by d’Arenberg’s recognition as one of Australia’s Top Wineries eight times in a row by The Real Review, its five-star Halliday rating and its status as a founding member of Australia’s First Families of Wine.
Drinking beautifully now, this Chardonnay pairs effortlessly with grilled prawns, roast chicken, creamy pasta, seafood risotto, garlic scallops or triple-cream brie, where its ripe fruit and soft texture shine. Approachable, expressive and outstanding value, the 2024 Stump Jump Lightly Wooded Chardonnay delivers consistent quality and everyday elegance in a modern McLaren Vale style.
