The ME by Matahiwi Wairarapa Pinot Gris 2024 is an elegant and fresh expression of this classic variety, crafted from grapes sourced from two cool-climate vineyards in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand. Located in the rain shadow of the Tararua Ranges, these sites provide low yields and perfectly ripe fruit, giving this wine exceptional flavour depth. The fruit was carefully harvested at peak ripeness to preserve its fresh character, and then gently pressed to retain the essence of the terroir.
Fermented at cool temperatures, a range of different yeasts was used to enhance the aromatic profile, while resting on lees enriched the wine's mouthfeel. The result is a Pinot Gris that bursts with fresh pear and melon aromas, followed by nectarine and tropical fruit flavours on the palate. The wine finishes smooth and refreshing, with a balanced structure that is both satisfying and easy to drink.
Perfect on its own, this Pinot Gris is also versatile and pairs wonderfully with a wide variety of dishes. A standout pairing for this wine is chilled peach and red curry mussels, where the fruity profile and refreshing finish complement the richness of the dish. It is an ideal choice for a summer seafood lunch or a light dinner.
Crafted with care from a region known for producing wines of outstanding quality, the ME by Matahiwi Pinot Gris reflects the cool-climate advantages of the Wairarapa region, making it a delightful wine for any occasion.

Beautifully fruited and elegantly fragrant, showing poached pear, rockmelon, Gala apple, and white floral aromas on the nose. The palate delivers succulent fruit flavours with fleshy texture and finely pitched acidity, finishing long and delicious.
