Tasting Notes:

The 2023 Bay of Fires Tasmania Chardonnay is a striking expression of cool-climate winemaking, sourced from the Coal River Valley and East Coast regions of Tasmania. The wine boasts a medium straw color with a green hue, offering bright aromatics of white nectarine, citrus, and orange blossom, with delicate notes of dried thyme, roasted hazelnuts, and a hint of flint. The lively palate is supported by vibrant acidity, delivering flavors of lemon curd and stone fruits. A sprinkling of subtle oak complements the fruit, providing structure and elegance to the wine.

The 2023 vintage, though challenging, resulted in wines with aromatic complexity and ripe structure. The long, cool growing season allowed for the development of exceptional flavors despite the disease pressures faced. The wine’s fruit-forward profile is balanced by the careful use of French oak, providing richness and depth. It pairs beautifully with seafood dishes such as grilled prawns or fresh oysters, as well as creamy pasta dishes or roasted chicken with lemon and thyme, enhancing its vibrant fruit and nuanced oak flavors.
