Barossa Valley Shiraz 2024 is a flagship single vineyard release sourced from the renowned Greenock sub-region, where red-brown soils over deep red clay and shale consistently produce wines of power, fragrance and definition. The fruit was de-stemmed and whole berries transferred into open-top fermenters, with traditional hand plunging twice daily and occasional rack-and-returns used to enhance colour, aroma and texture. After an extended 20 days on skins, the wine was drained to barrel and the remaining skins were basket pressed to capture the purest expression of the vineyard. Maturation proceeded with minimal racking, before being bottled unfined and with only minimal filtration to preserve depth, aromatics and natural structure.
In the glass, the wine shows a dense black core with a crimson-purple edge. The nose is complex and deeply layered, offering mulberry, plum and black cherry alongside star anise, peppercorn spice and subtle oak detail. The palate is intense and finely composed, delivering ripe blackberry, black cherry and warm spice wrapped in brambly fruit richness. Dark chocolate tannins provide tension and drive, while the savoury finish carries exceptional length and balance. This meticulously crafted Greenock Shiraz received 96 Points from Vino Masters, underscoring its status as a powerful yet elegant single-vineyard expression from a legendary Barossa producer.
Such depth and structure make it ideal alongside slow-braised beef cheeks, chargrilled steak with peppercorn jus, roast lamb with rosemary, venison, smoked brisket, hard cheeses or dark chocolate desserts. Enjoy now for its vibrancy or cellar over the next decade to watch its complexity and savoury elements evolve.

"This is gorgeously ripe and perfumed on the nose, with dark, purple-fruit intensity, liquorice, dark chocolate, star anise, and spicy oak notes. The concentrated palate displays excellent weight and intensity, wonderfully framed by silky texture and fine-grained tannins. Generous and mouth-filling with a long, delectable finish. At its best: now to 2038. $120.00. Dec 2025."
