Tasting Notes:

In the glass, it shines a deep ruby red, immediately setting the stage for the richness to come. Aromas of black forest fruits, warm spice and dried herbs rise from the glass with intensity and poise. The palate is generous yet elegant, layered with blackberry and dark plum wrapped in supple tannins that speak clearly of McLaren Vale’s famed Shiraz pedigree. As it opens, notes of black pepper, dark chocolate and a fine drying tannin finish deliver both length and sophistication. The wine has been widely celebrated, with 95 points from Nick Ryan (The Weekend Australian), 94 points from Wine Front, 93 points from Angus Hughson (Wine Pilot) and 91 points from Q Wine Review, reinforcing its status as a standout release from an iconic site.

This is a superb partner for chargrilled ribeye, slow-braised lamb shoulder, rich beef ragù or roasted portobello mushrooms, as the wine’s bold fruit and spice interplay beautifully with hearty, flavour-driven dishes. Aged cheddar or a platter of cured meats also makes a natural match, highlighting its depth and savoury nuances.

95 Point Rated - Nick Ryan The Weekend Australian
"Praised for its quality, price, and a contemporary style with plum, ripe cherry, and baking spices."

94 Point Rated Wine Front

93 Point Rated - Angus Hughson Wine Pilot

"A real crowd pleaser here that will make McLaren Vale fans swoon. Deep crimson in colour, it is a rich and powerful style with decadent fruit pastille and blackberry fruits with a light and attractive dusting of eucalyptus and spice. Dry, mouth filling, plush, and rich, there is beautiful purity of vibrant black fruits flavours to follow well matched to a toasty oak backbone with a generous, dark chocolatey finish. Ready to go now but will also drink well for some time to come."

93 Point Rated - Vinous

"Described as a crowd-pleaser with decadent fruit pastille and blackberry fruits, plus a light and attractive dusting of eucalyptus and spice."

91 Point Rated - Q Wine Review

"Dense dark fruits slip through quicker than expected. I came back to it a day later and it seemed to find some grip - decant to drink now is the tip. Licorice, dark chocolate, charry oak, some cedar, even some cola all want a piece of the action. Dusty, drying tannins stick and seemingly don't want to budge. There is a density here that lovers of old school McLaren Vale will enjoy. A side of steak and chips for me thanks chef.
Drink to eight years."

18/20 from Matthew Jukes

"Called it a "glorious top-flight wine" that is dark, swarthy, and spicy."
